Shinobu Otake (大竹しのぶ, born 17 July 1957 in Tokyo) is a Japanese actress whose career spans more than five decades of film, television and stage work. She holds three Japanese Academy Awards and won Best Actress at the 25th Moscow International Film Festival (2003) for Kaneto Shindo's film Owl. A recurring voice in Studio Ghibli productions, she played Aiko in The Boy and the Heron (2023) and Sadako in Arrietty (2010). In autumn 2025 she took on the title role in a major Tokyo production of King Lear.
In October 2025, she began a production of King Lear at Tokyo's THEATER MILANO-Za, where she played an adult male role for the first time in her career.
Otake turned 68 on July 17, 2025; in July 2025, the documentary film Kurokawa no onnatachi was released, for which she recorded a commentary.
The live tour SHINOBU OTAKE LIVE TOUR 2025 took place in January in Osaka and on February 4, 2025 at Blue Note Tokyo - both performances were sold out.
In January 2025, the LIVE TOUR 2025 took place, following up on the jubilee concert marking the 50th anniversary of her 2024 debut.
