About

Sigmund Freud (1856–1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis. He developed the theory of the unconscious, the method of free association, and concepts such as the ego, id, and superego. His works, including The Interpretation of Dreams, profoundly shaped psychology and 20th-century culture. The concept of sublimation — transforming repressed drives into socially acceptable behaviour — is among his most influential ideas.
