Sean Penn (born August 17, 1960, in Los Angeles) is an American actor, filmmaker and humanitarian activist - one of only four men in Oscar history to win three acting awards. He took Best Actor for Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008), then added Best Supporting Actor in 2026 for Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another. Behind the camera he directed Into the Wild (2007) and co-directed the Ukraine war documentary Superpower (2023), filmed partly in Kyiv during the Russian invasion.
