Sir Sam Neill (born 14 September 1947 in Northern Ireland) is a New Zealand actor whose career spans more than fifty years. He rose to global fame as Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park (1993) and has since moved fluidly between arthouse cinema, Hollywood blockbusters and prestige television - from Peaky Blinders to The Piano. In 2022 he was awarded a New Zealand knighthood for his contribution to film.
The Netflix thriller Untamed, in which Neill plays the head ranger of Yosemite Park, was renewed for a second season after its premiere on July 17, 2025.
Neill was cast in the upcoming MonsterVerse film Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is expected to premiere in 2027.
Neill confirmed in an interview that he is still in remission after treatment for a rare blood tumor - angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, diagnosed in 2022.
Neill auctioned off a collection of signed Funko Pop figures from the Jurassic Park films in support of Save the Children to help child refugees.
