Rupert Grint (born 1988, Harlow, England) became a household name as Ron Weasley across all eight Harry Potter films (2001-2011). After the franchise ended, he moved into television - most notably four seasons of M. Night Shyamalan's thriller Servant - and has been selectively building a genre film career. In 2026 he starred in Nightborn, a Finnish horror directed by Hanna Bergholm, which premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The horror film Nightborn, in which Grint plays the lead role, was released on the streaming platform Shudder on July 31, 2026.
The film Nightborn had its world premiere in the main competition of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Bear.
Grint joined the cast of a new adaptation of the Christmas story Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol (Paramount, directed by Ti West) alongside Johnny Depp and Daisy Ridley; the premiere is scheduled for November 13, 2026.
Grint and his partner Georgia Groome had their second daughter born in 2025.
In an interview with Variety, Grint said that he plans to film approximately one project per year and deliberately chooses roles that interest him.
