Rufus (born Jacques Narcy, 19 December 1942, Riom) is a French actor, comedian and playwright with a career spanning six decades. He is best known internationally as Raphaël, Amélie Poulain's father, in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amélie (2001), a role that earned him a César nomination. A distinctive screen presence with a deadpan, slightly otherworldly quality, he appeared in every Jeunet film from Delicatessen (1991) to A Very Long Engagement (2004), and played the lead in the Holocaust tragicomedy Train de vie (1998). In 2013 he was appointed Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
Rufus appeared in the French comedy T'as pas changé (directed by Jérôme Commandeur), which premiered on November 5, 2025 - he plays the father of one of the main characters alongside Laurent Lafitte and Vanessa Paradis.
Rufus appeared in January 2025 in a new episode of the series César Wagner on France 2 in the role of Stanislas.
The film Amélie (2001), in which Rufus played the father of the main character, was re-released in British cinemas in April 2026 on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
The French public broadcasting company France Télévisions announced in June 2026 the end of the series César Wagner, in which Rufus guest-starred.
