Rodger Albert Bumpass (born November 20, 1951, in Little Rock, Arkansas) is an American actor and voice actor with a career spanning more than five decades. He is best known for voicing Squidward Tentacles on SpongeBob SquarePants since the show's debut in 1999 - a role he has held for over 25 years. Beyond Squidward, he voiced Professor Membrane in Invader Zim and Dr. Light in Teen Titans, and contributed supporting voices to numerous Pixar and Disney animated features.
The film The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, in which Bumpass again played Squidward, had its theatrical premiere on December 19, 2025.
Bumpass returned as Squidward in the film Plankton: The Movie, which was released on Netflix on March 7, 2025, and became the most-watched English-language film on the platform in its first weekend.
Bumpass participated in a SpongeBob SquarePants panel at New York Comic Con in October 2024 on the occasion of the series' 25th anniversary.
Bumpass was announced as a guest at the Spa-Con Infinity convention in Hot Springs in August 2024.
SpongeBob SquarePants became the longest-running American children's animated series in history in 2025, with Bumpass playing Squidward since the first episode.
