Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014) was an American actor and comedian whose career spanned nearly four decades. He rose to fame as the alien Mork in Mork & Mindy (1978-1982), then became a film star through roles in Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Will Hunting - the last earning him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Celebrated for his lightning-fast improvisation and ability to move between comedy and drama, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time. He died on August 11, 2014, aged 63; a posthumous autopsy revealed he had Lewy body dementia.
