Sir Ridley Scott (born 30 November 1937 in South Shields) is an English film director and producer with a career spanning more than fifty years. He made his name with genre-defining works including Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Gladiator (2000) and The Martian (2015). His films have grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide, and in 2024 King Charles III appointed him Knight Grand Cross.
Scott confirmed in an interview with The Guardian that his next project after The Dog Stars will be the war drama Battle of Britain, written by Joe Penhall.
