Richard Harris (1930-2002) was an Irish actor, singer and poet from Limerick who became one of the defining faces of British New Wave cinema in the 1960s. His raw performance in This Sporting Life (1963) won him the Best Actor prize at Cannes and an Oscar nomination; he earned a second Oscar nod for The Field (1990). In 1968 his debut album A Tramp Shining yielded the hit "MacArthur Park", which reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Younger audiences know him best as Professor Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films (2001-2002).
The documentary film The Ghost of Richard Harris (2022) by director Adrian Sibley, on which Harris's sons Jared, Jamie and Damian collaborated, received distribution in the USA and reviews in Variety and Los Angeles Times.
