Raymond Burr was a Canadian-American actor best known for his TV roles as Perry Mason and detective Ironside. In Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954) he played the menacing neighbour Lars Thorwald. He built his career from the 1940s, often cast as villains in Hollywood film noir.
