Phyllis Logan (born 11 January 1956 in Paisley, Scotland) is a Scottish actress whose career spans more than four decades in British television and film. She is best known internationally as housekeeper Mrs Hughes in Downton Abbey (2010-2015) and its subsequent films, and before that as Lady Jane Felsham across nearly fifty episodes of Lovejoy (1986-1993). Her film debut in Another Time, Another Place (1983) earned her a BAFTA for Most Promising Newcomer and a nomination for Best Actress.
A new crime series A Taste for Murder began airing on BritBox, in which Logan plays Elena Da Vinale, a witty matriarch of an Italian family.
The final film Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, in which Logan reprises the role of Mrs Hughes, was released in cinemas on September 12, 2025 and earned over 103 million dollars worldwide.
The crime mini-series Murder Most Puzzling, where Logan plays the lead role of Cory Felton, nicknamed The Puzzle Lady, premiered on June 19, 2025 on British Channel 5.
The series Miss Austen, in which Logan stars alongside her husband Kevin McNally, premiered on February 2, 2025.
At the RTS Scotland Awards 2024 ceremony in Glasgow, Logan received the Actor - Female award for her role as Grace Bain in the series Shetland (BBC).
