Pestilence is a Dutch death metal band formed in 1986 in Haarlem. They are considered pioneers of European death metal, known for their technical and progressive approach to the genre. Their albums Consuming Impulse (1989) and Testimony of the Ancients (1991) are regarded as classics. The band has reunited multiple times, with guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli as its driving force.
