Penelope Spheeris is an American film director and producer known for her fascination with youth subcultures. She gained recognition with the documentary trilogy The Decline of Western Civilization and her debut feature Suburbia (1983), depicting punk youth in Los Angeles. She later directed the mainstream comedy Wayne's World (1992).
