Pavel Žalman Lohonka (born 20 March 1946 in České Budějovice) is a Czech folk singer-songwriter, guitarist and composer, widely regarded as one of the defining figures of the Czech folk scene. He played with the group Minnesengři from 1968 and has led his own band Žalman & spol. since 1982, amassing a catalogue of over 400 songs rooted in South Bohemian folk tradition, tramping culture and American folk.

    Pavel Žalman Lohonka celebrated his 80th birthday with a big concert at Prague's Lucerna with the participation of Pavlína Jíšová, Kubitov quartet and Robert Fischmann.

    As part of the anniversary tour Žalman 80, he will also perform in Plzen, Brno, Bratislava and Banska Bystrica.

    In February 2025, Žalman performed at Prague's Velký mlýn as part of the Folková mlýnice series, with Monika Bublíková, finalist of Porta 2024, as the guest of the evening.

  • 2022

    The band Žalman & spol. released a compilation album My vyhnaní z ráje with 22 fan-selected songs, recorded on the occasion of 60 years of Žalman playing guitar.

  • 2021

    In 2021, Žalman & spol. released the studio album Všechno je teď, which was rated as one of the most successful album projects of the year.
