Pavel Fiala (1937-2016) was a Czech playwright, director and theatre-maker, a central figure of the small-stage movement of the 1960s. As founder of the Kladivadlo ensemble he developed a style mixing social satire with lyrical wit - and it was there he first worked with actor Josef Dvořák. In the 1970s and 80s he wrote scripts for the Semafor theatre, most durably the comedy S pydlou v zádech.
