Paolo Villaggio was an Italian actor and writer, best known for playing the hapless accountant Fantozzi. The character - a perennial underdog crushed by bosses and bad luck alike - became an icon of Italian comedy. The Fantozzi film series launched in 1975 and eventually ran to more than ten installments.
