Ota Pavel (1930–1973) was a Czech writer and sports journalist. He is best known for his autobiographical prose works drawing on childhood memories, his father's passion for fishing, and his family's fate during World War II. His most celebrated collections are Smrt krásných srnců (Death of the Beautiful Roebucks) and Jak jsem potkal ryby (How I Came to Know Fish).
