Operation Anthropoid was a 1942 Czechoslovak mission to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, the Acting Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia. Paratroopers Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš carried out the attack in Prague on 27 May 1942; Heydrich died of his wounds on 4 June 1942. It remains one of the most significant acts of resistance in occupied Europe during World War II.
