About

Obscura is a German technical death metal band founded in 2002 by guitarist and vocalist Steffen Kummerer in Landshut, Bavaria. Their music weaves together technical death metal with progressive elements, drawing on themes of space and philosophy. The 2009 album Cosmogenesis is widely regarded as a landmark of the genre, and their latest record, A Sonication, came out in February 2025 on Nuclear Blast.
