Nedvědi

About

Nedvědi were a Czech folk and tramping duo formed by brothers Jan (b. 1946) and František (b. 1947) Nedvěd. They grew up around the Prague tramping settlement Toronto on the Sázava river, where in 1972 they co-founded the group Brontosauři, one of the defining acts of Czech folk music in the 1970s and 80s. As the duo Nedvědi they drew enormous crowds - most famously filling Prague's Strahov stadium for some 60,000 fans in 1996. František Nedvěd died on 18 July 2021 from lung cancer; the family's musical legacy is now carried on by his son Vojta and Jan's son Jan Nedvěd Jr.
