Cutting It Short
A classic Czech comedy screening at the summer cinema, featuring the vivacious Maryška, her husband Francin, and his eccentric brother Pepin as they embark on increasingly absurd adventures.
Miloslav Štibich (1928-1992) was a Czech actor and long-serving member of Prague's Činoherní klub theatre, where he started out as a props man and stage manager. His film career took off through director Jiří Menzel, who cast him in Postřižiny, Na samotě u lesa and Slavnosti sněženek. He is best remembered as the collective-farm chairman Kalina in Vesničko má, středisková (1985). He died unexpectedly at 63 after complications during a routine gallbladder operation.
