Michael Fassbender (born 2 April 1977 in Heidelberg) is a German-Irish actor who grew up in Killarney, Ireland. His breakthrough came with Steve McQueen's Hunger (2008), and he went on to earn two Oscar nominations - for 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Steve Jobs (2015). He is also widely recognised as Magneto in the X-Men franchise and the android David in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
Filming of the Netflix series Kennedy, in which Fassbender plays Joe Kennedy Sr., was nearing completion in June 2026 - the final scenes were being shot on a beach in southeastern England.
In April 2026, the production of the Kennedy series moved to Liverpool, where historic architecture served as a backdrop for 1940s America.
