Sir Michael Caine (born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, 14 March 1933, London) is a British actor whose career spans more than seven decades and over 130 films. He rose to fame in the 1960s with roles in Zulu, Alfie and The Italian Job, and won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor - for Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and The Cider House Rules (1999). A frequent collaborator of Christopher Nolan, he appeared in the Batman trilogy, Inception and Interstellar. He announced his retirement in 2023 after The Great Escaper, then came out of retirement in September 2025 for The Last Witch Hunter 2.
Lionsgate in April 2026 confirmed the finalization of a contract with Caine for the role of priest Dolan in the upcoming sequel The Last Witch Hunter 2.
Vin Diesel published the first page of the screenplay on social media and revealed the subtitle of the sequel: Kaulder the Immortal - The Lion's Oath.
At the age of 92, Caine ended his acting retirement and confirmed his participation in the fantasy sequel The Last Witch Hunter 2 alongside Vin Diesel for Lionsgate studio.
In November 2023, Caine released his debut as a writer - the thriller Deadly Game about a detective tracking stolen uranium in London.
In October 2023, Caine announced in an interview with BBC Radio 4 his official retirement after filming the war drama The Great Escaper, in which he played a World War II veteran.
