Max Cavalera (born 4 August 1969 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil) is a Brazilian-American musician who co-founded Sepultura with his brother Igor in 1984, fronting the band through its most influential years in thrash and groove metal. After leaving Sepultura in 1996 he formed Soulfly, which has released thirteen studio albums blending groove metal, death metal and Brazilian tribal sounds. He also records and tours with the Cavalera project (formerly Cavalera Conspiracy) alongside Igor, and is a member of the supergroup Killer Be Killed.
