Mathieu Kassovitz (born 3 August 1967 in Paris) is a French director, screenwriter, producer and actor, son of Hungarian-French filmmaker Peter Kassovitz. His 1995 film La Haine earned him the Best Director prize at Cannes and three César Awards, including Best Film. Outside France he is widely recognised as Nino Quincampoix in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amélie (2001). In 2024 he adapted La Haine into a stage musical that toured major French venues as well as Brussels and Geneva.
At the Cannes festival in 2025, Kassovitz announced the creation of the production company Venturi Production, which he is founding together with industrialist Gilde Pastor with the aim of connecting cinematography with technological innovations.
In April 2025, Kassovitz started the 24 Heures Motos race at the Le Mans circuit - the organizers selected him as the starter of the 48th edition due to his passion for motorcycle racing.
The musical La Haine - Jusqu'ici rien n'a changé returned to the stage at La Seine Musicale in Paris from November 7, 2025, with organizers calling it a success.
In December 2024, Kassovitz appeared in the series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Disney+) in the role of General Strix.
In October 2024, the musical La Haine - Jusqu'ici rien n'a changé premiered at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt; Kassovitz participated in the project as author and co-creator of the production.
