Matej Makovický is a Slovak stand-up comedian and member of Silné reči, the largest stand-up comedy collective in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. A trained sociologist, he performs in both Slovak and English, drawing on themes of depression, relationships and everyday absurdity with a dry, self-aware style. Outside stand-up he works as a copywriter, music journalist and quiz host under the nickname Makovica.
In the podcast "I Listen" Makovický openly talked about living with depression and how humor serves him as a form of therapy.
Makovický appeared as a guest at the Christmas stand-up special "Silent Night" by Simona First at the Peugeot Arena in Bratislava.
Makovický was introduced as a speaker at the KRUHY 2025 festival in Sliac, dedicated to mental health.
