Martin Kumžák (born 11 November 1966) is a Czech composer, conductor, pianist and arranger trained at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, the Prague State Conservatory and Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2006 he founded Moondance Orchestra, which has provided the live musical backbone of every series of Czech Television's dance competition StarDance. Alongside popular concert projects such as Dasha Symphony and Michael Jackson Symphony, he composes serious music - his Oratorio St. Václav, performed with the FOK symphony orchestra in 2015, won the OSA award for Classical Work of the Year.

    Kumžák conducted an open air concert Michael Jackson Symphony in Zlín with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic and Moondance Orchestra.

  • 2025-11

    Moondance Orchestra under the direction of Kumžák opened the ball season in Český Krumlov with soloists Dasha, Naďa Wepperová, Dušan Kollár and Michal Cerman.

  • 2024-12

    Kumžák with Moondance Orchestra completed another series of StarDance 2024 on Czech Television.

  • 2025

    Kumžák performs as conductor of the Michael Jackson Symphony project with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and Moondance Orchestra.
