Marisa Paredes (3 April 1946 - 17 December 2024) was a Spanish actress whose career spanned more than six decades, from her debut as a teenage film star in 1960 to her final screen appearance in 2025. She gained international recognition through her recurring collaboration with Pedro Almodóvar - in High Heels (1991), The Flower of My Secret (1995), All About My Mother (1999) and The Skin I Live In (2011) - and also appeared in Roberto Benigni's Life Is Beautiful (1997) and Guillermo del Toro's The Devil's Backbone (2001). She served as president of the Spanish Film Academy from 2000 to 2003 and received an Honorary Goya Award in 2018.
The posthumous film Emergency Exit (directed by Lluís Miñarro), in which Paredes played her final role, had its Spanish premiere on December 19, 2025.
The San Sebastián Festival dedicated its 73rd edition poster to Paredes as a tribute to one of the festival's most beloved stars.
At the Goya 2025 gala in Granada, the Spanish Film Academy paid public tribute to Paredes in the presence of her family.
Marisa Paredes died on December 17, 2024 in Madrid from heart failure at the age of 78; the farewell took place at Teatro Español.
