Magda (Magdaléna) Vášáryová (born 26 August 1948 in Banská Štiavnica) is a Slovak actress, diplomat and politician. Her film career spans the 1960s to 1980s, with landmark roles in Marketa Lazarová (1967) and Jiří Menzel's Postřižiny (1980). After the Velvet Revolution she served as Czechoslovak ambassador to Austria (1990-1993) and Slovak ambassador to Poland (2000-2005), then sat in the National Council of the Slovak Republic from 2006 to 2016.
Vášáryová publicly expressed herself on current Slovak politics and commented on the situation in Robert Fico's government.
In October 2025, the Bourdon publishing house released a book of interviews "Before I Disappear", in which Vášáryová together with journalist Petr Šabata evaluates contemporary politics and her own career.
The book "Before I Disappear" generated reader interest - the publishing house prepared a reprint with a planned release on December 12, 2025.
