M. Emmet Walsh (March 22, 1935 - March 19, 2024) was an American character actor with a career spanning six decades and over 200 film and television credits. He is best known for playing the corrupt private detective Loren Visser in the Coen brothers' debut Blood Simple (1984) - a role written specifically for him - and Captain Bryant in Blade Runner (1982). Critic Roger Ebert famously declared that no film featuring Walsh could be altogether bad.
