Lupita Nyong'o (born 1983 in Mexico City) is a Kenyan-Mexican actress raised in Kenya and trained at the Yale School of Drama. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave (2013), and has since built a wide-ranging career spanning the Black Panther franchise, Jordan Peele's Us, and animated film. She is also a New York Times bestselling children's book author and podcast host.
