About

Louis-Ferdinand Céline (1894–1961) was a French novelist whose debut, Journey to the End of the Night (1932), brought him immediate fame and lasting influence on modern prose. His raw, colloquial style and bleak worldview were groundbreaking. He remains a deeply controversial figure due to his virulent antisemitic pamphlets and collaboration during the German occupation of France.
