Lorraine Gary (born Lorraine Gottfried; August 16, 1937, Forest Hills, New York) is a retired American actress best known for playing Ellen Brody in Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975) and its sequels Jaws 2 (1978) and Jaws: The Revenge (1987). Her performance in the latter earned her a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actress, making her the actor with the most appearances in the franchise. Before her film breakthrough she appeared as a guest star in numerous TV series of the 1960s and 70s, including Ironside, Kojak and The F.B.I. Outside acting she ran New Hope Productions and serves on the Human Rights Watch Women's Rights Advisory Committee.
Lorraine Gary agreed to participate in the documentary The Shark That Roared, which maps the creation and cultural legacy of the film Jaws: The Revenge (1987) on the occasion of its 40th anniversary.
At the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood (April 26, 2025), Lorraine Gary appeared on stage at the Egyptian Theatre during a special screening of Jaws for the film's 50th anniversary.
