Liza Colón-Zayas (born July 15, 1972, in the Bronx) is an American actress and playwright of Puerto Rican descent. She became widely known for playing line cook Tina Marrero in The Bear, a role that earned her the 2024 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series - making her the first Latina to win in that category. Before her television breakthrough she spent over three decades in New York theater, collecting Drama Desk, Obie, and Lucille Lortel awards along the way.
Colón-Zayas was selected together with Jeff Hiller to announce the nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards on July 8, 2026.
The fifth and final season of The Bear, in which Colón-Zayas plays Tina Marrero, premiered on June 25, 2026 on FX and Hulu.
In April 2026, Colón-Zayas joined the cast of the erotic drama Fleur, which is being filmed in Paris alongside Halle Berry.
In May 2025, it was announced that Colón-Zayas joined the cast of the Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where she plays a detective.
At the 76th Emmy Awards ceremony in September 2024, Colón-Zayas won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role in The Bear - as the first Latina in the history of this category.
