Lilly Wachowski (born December 29, 1967, in Chicago) is an American film director, writer and producer. Together with her sister Lana Wachowski, she co-created The Matrix trilogy - the 1999 original grossed over $463 million worldwide and reshaped science fiction cinema with its visual effects and philosophical depth. Their other credits include V for Vendetta, Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas and the Netflix series Sense8. Lilly also co-founded the Anarchists United Foundation, which champions underrepresented voices in film and television.
Wachowski is preparing a dystopian political thriller The Hunted - a live script reading will take place on August 7-8 in Los Angeles, with production supported by her foundation Anarchists United.
The Anarchists United Foundation selected five fellows for the Writers Discovery Fellowship program for 2026, which is sponsored this year by the production companies of Amy Poehler, Drew Goddard, and Eric Heisser.
