Leoš Janáček: Osud

About

Osud (Fate) is an opera by Leoš Janáček to a libretto by Fedora Bartošová, composed between 1903 and 1907 after the composer's encounter with Kamila Urválková at the Luhačovice spa. Loosely autobiographical, it remains one of Janáček's least-performed yet musically distinctive stage works. It only reached the stage after his death, premiering on 25 October 1958 at the National Theatre in Brno.
