Laurence Fishburne is an American actor, producer and theatre maker born on July 30, 1961, in Augusta, Georgia. He rose to global fame as Morpheus in the Matrix trilogy (1999-2003), but his career stretches from Apocalypse Now (1979) through an Oscar nomination for playing Ike Turner in What's Love Got to Do with It (1993) to Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis (2024). He holds a Tony Award for his stage work and co-founded Cinema Gypsy Productions.
Fishburne was cast in the new horror film The Exorcist: Martyrs directed by Mike Flanagan alongside Scarlett Johansson and Diane Lane; the film is set to be released on March 12, 2027.
