About

Latexfauna is a Kyiv-based indie pop band formed in 2015 by three students from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Frontman Dmytro Zezyulin and his bandmates blend chillwave, dream-pop and synth textures, writing lyrics in Ukrainian and surzhyk - a Ukrainian-Russian mixed vernacular - which made them prominent advocates of that idiom in contemporary Ukrainian music. Their breakthrough came with the singles "Surfer" and "Ajahuaska"; the second album Senbernar (2022) expanded their palette with funk and disco influences. In 2024 the band won the YUNA award for Best Pop Group.
