László Nemes is a Hungarian film director and screenwriter. His debut feature Son of Saul (2015), made after years as an assistant to Béla Tarr, won the Grand Prix at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His second feature Sunset (2018) is a historical drama set in early 20th-century Budapest.
