Kendrick Sampson (born March 8, 1988, Houston, Texas) is an American actor, producer, and activist, best known for playing Nathan Campbell on HBO's Insecure and for portraying Quincy Jones in Antoine Fuqua's record-breaking biopic Michael (2026). In 2019 he co-founded BLD PWR, a nonprofit that mobilizes the entertainment industry around social justice and community empowerment. His work on Insecure earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination in 2022.
Sampson portrayed Quincy Jones in the biographical film Michael (directed by Antoine Fuqua), which premiered on April 24, 2026 and became the historically most successful music biopic with a worldwide box office of over 217 million dollars in its first weekend.
Sampson told The Credits in an interview how he prepared for the role of Quincy Jones in just two days and drew inspiration from personal meetings with the legendary producer.
Sampson organized the BLD PWR Day 2025 event in Houston, a pre-Juneteenth community gathering in the Ion District aimed at political mobilization of the African American community.
Sampson is expanding the activities of the nonprofit BLD PWR as a central hub for resource sharing and organizing marginalized communities.
