Józef Elsner (1769–1854) was a Polish composer and music educator of German origin, based mainly in Warsaw. He is best known as the teacher of Frédéric Chopin at the Warsaw Conservatory. He composed operas, symphonies, and sacred works, and played a key role in shaping Polish musical life.
