Josef Božek (1782–1835) was a Czech mechanic and inventor based in Prague, known for his precision clockwork mechanisms and mechanical devices. He built the clock mechanism for the White Tower in Hradec Králové in 1829. He is also remembered as a pioneer of steam propulsion, having constructed one of the earliest steam-powered vehicles in Europe in 1815.
