Jonathan Filley is an American actor and film producer with a career spanning more than five decades. A lifelong summer resident of Martha's Vineyard, he landed the role of Tom Cassidy in Spielberg's Jaws (1975), an experience that drew him into the film industry for good. He went on to work as a producer and production manager on dozens of projects, including HBO's Succession - for which he received a Primetime Emmy nomination - as well as Inside Man (2006) and War of the Worlds (2005).
Filley appeared as one of the witnesses in the documentary Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story, which premiered on July 10, 2025 on National Geographic and the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Vineyard Gazette in June 2025 recalled Filley's story: as a local resident of Chappaquiddick, he got a role in Jaws and the filming experience led him to a lifetime career in production.
Filley served as co-executive producer on the series Before (TV Series, 2024) - seven episodes.
As co-executive producer, he participated in the miniseries Full Circle (2023, HBO Max, 6 episodes) directed by Steven Soderbergh.
For the production of the series Succession (HBO), Filley was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Drama Series.
