Jon Bernthal (born September 20, 1976, in Washington D.C.) is an American actor who rose to prominence as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead and as Frank Castle / The Punisher across multiple Marvel productions. His guest turn as Mikey Berzatto in The Bear earned him a Primetime Emmy Award. He trained at the Moscow Art Theatre School and later completed an M.F.A. at Harvard's American Repertory Theatre.
