John Davidson is a Scottish activist from Galashiels who has lived with severe Tourette syndrome since childhood. He first came to public attention through the 1989 BBC documentary John's Not Mad, and has since spent decades raising awareness - giving talks at schools and police stations and running Tourette's workshops. In 2019 he was appointed MBE by the Queen for his advocacy work. His life story inspired the 2025 British film I Swear, directed by Kirk Jones.
