Johann Georg Gettner (?-1696) was a native of Mikulov (Nikolsburg) who became an actor, playwright, and director of the Eggenberg princely comedians at Český Krumlov castle - one of the most important professional theatre companies in 17th-century Central Europe. In his pastoral Donau Syren he described himself as "Thalia born on the Moravian Parnassus". Mikulov's Moravský Parnas festival bears his name and keeps his theatrical legacy alive.
