Inherent Vice
A 1970-set noir thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix as a private detective who unravels a complex web of conspiracies in a California beach town.
Joanna Caroline Newsom (born January 18, 1982) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and actress, known for her distinctive voice and virtuosic harp playing. Raised in Northern California, she trained classically on the harp as a child and began her career as a keyboardist in the San Francisco indie band The Pleased. Her acclaimed albums - The Milk-Eyed Mender (2004), Ys (2006), Have One on Me (2010) and Divers (2015) - established her as a leading figure in progressive/chamber folk, and she has also acted in Portlandia and Inherent Vice.
During a five-day residency at Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles, she performed her first own concerts since 2020 and live premiered new compositions, such as 'Rovenshere' and a fan-nicknamed song 'Home Economics'.
Newsom announced a residency 'The Strings/Keys Reincidence' in LA, including a special afternoon concert for children.
She also performed at the Kilby Block Party festival in Salt Lake City, which was one of her rare concert appearances after years of hiatus.
At an unannounced opening performance for Fleet Foxes in Los Angeles, she performed five new songs for the first time and told fans that she has written eleven new compositions.
According to fan summaries for 2025, she has not released any new song and appeared in public only a few times, which maintains uncertainty about a new album.
