Jiří Ornest (1946-2017) was a Czech actor, director and translator from a prominent theatrical family. He spent most of his career at the Divadlo Na zábradlí in Prague, where he also worked as a playwright and translator. In Šakalí léta he played Přemek, an arrogant secret-police officer - one of his best-known film roles. He received the Alfréd Radok Award in 1996.
