Jessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24, 1977, Sacramento, California) is an American actress and producer, trained at the Juilliard School. She built her reputation playing formidable, morally complex women - from a CIA analyst in Zero Dark Thirty to televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021), which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. She founded the production company Freckle Films to champion diversity in film, and regularly returns to Broadway alongside her screen career.
